e do know is somewhere all the Privett's are related because there are so few of them. If you hear of anyone else looking in this direction I would be happy to hear about it.

Am searching in Giles County, Tennessee for the family of my 2nd great grandfather, Howell Harris Tucker. His brother was Calloway Garner Tucker, father John Epps Tucker, mother Mary Daniels. Grandfather was Gabriel Tucker, grandmother was Matilda Hicks
Bell. His g-grandfather was Daniel Tucker and g-grandmother was Frances Epps.
Harris' Confederate pension application says he was born in Giles County, Tennessee in 1834.

Hi,
Looking through your visitors' list I see that there are virtually no comments from UK. Do you know that the name Tucker derives from the operation in medieval time of water-driven tucking or fulling mills - a process in the making of serge, following wea
ing? (i.e. the Tuckers or Fullers took over from the Weavers!) The first stage involved soaking in urine but enough of that. Rapid streams and sheep in abundance were required and this combination occurred in the county of Devon which is undoubtedly the h
meland of the Tuckers. I am researching the name Tucker in Devon and have made a database of over 7000 Tucker baptisms from the IGI (freely available at LDS centres). My particular interest is a village called Morchard Bishop which has more Tucker baptism
than any other parish in the county (and presumably the world!)
One John Tucker, born in Morchard Bishop 1835, emigrated to USA in 1872 with wife, 6 children and a nephew and settled in Elk Point, Union County, SD where four more children were born. In about 1920 three brothers and families moved to Mountain View, Cal
fornia and later on many more followed. The whold family is extremely well documented up to 1962 (157 descendants and 67 spouses). I find no name in your visitors' list that I recognise. Shall be send more details by email. Cheers

Wonderful genealogy site!
I was raised in TUCKER twnshp on Hwy Z near
Gatewood, Ripley Co, MO. I lived with my
Grandparents, Richard & Zilpha Coe, and our
house was less that 100 yards from the
Tucker Bros General Merchadise store.
I knew the owners very well--Russell & Jewell,
Will & Dee, all Tuckers.
I have a connection to the Tuckers of MO-AR
thru Cates/Reed/Smith/Yarbrough families.
Are you linked in any way to this group of
Tuckers?

Was searching for info on Johnston when I found your Home page. I was very surprised at what I found. What a small world and what a delight. Any way Eliza A Tucker and Louis Peyton Johnston were(are)my great grandparents. Their daughter Josie Clementine
Johnston (twin to Joseph Burton)
married William F. Weatherford. They had one child, Mamie Evelyn Weatherford (my mother) she married William A. Gastineau. They had three sons and a daughter (me)
My delight over whems me to find this info. I have very little on Eliza.
Thank you for the work and time you put in on this. Job well done.

Hello fellow Smelser's. I am a decendant of
Valtin (Vallentin) Schmeltzer that sailed over on the ship Sally (I think that was the name-I'm writing from memory) They sailed from Holland, but were from Palentine area. I have an extremely good book on the Smelser that is called "Aster's at Dusk" If
your family is decended from him, I
might be able to get some information out of it
for you. My ancesters seemed to be filled with
the names of Peter and Adam as boys and Elizabeth
and Susie for girls.
Nice to meet you. Jean
